Beitar Jerusalem Pursues Additional Foreign Defender Ahead of Season Start

Beitar Jerusalem is accelerating efforts to sign another foreign central defender as the club prepares for the upcoming season. The team will open the season on Saturday with a European competition match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, following a traditional opening training session at their home ground, Teddy Stadium, on Tuesday. The squad recently returned from a training camp but will be missing Tomer Yosefi, who is not yet fully fit, Brian Karveli, suspended from the last match of the previous season, and Luka Gadrani, who is also not fully recovered.

New signing Daniel Vorko from Hapoel Ramat Gan is expected to start in the lineup, with Almog Cohen taking the helm as head coach for the first time. The club identified a need for an additional quality defender during the training camp, prompting agents to offer high-level central defenders. If a foreign defender is signed, it is possible that players Uri Dahan or Gil Cohen might seek to leave the team. Meanwhile, Liel Drai will not be loaned out this season, as the coaching staff is satisfied with his performance.

Nana Antwi, who was expected to arrive in Israel today, will now arrive tomorrow evening after taking a few days off to attend to matters in Romania, where he played last season. Regarding season ticket sales, the club has sold approximately 19,000 subscriptions so far, with demand still very high as the new season approaches.
