Tali Gottlieb Accuses Ministers Levin and Katz of Plotting to Cancel Likud Primaries to Retain Power

Knesset member Tali Gottlieb sharply criticized Ministers Yariv Levin and Israel Katz, accusing them of spearheading an initiative to cancel the Likud party primaries in order to preserve their political influence. Gottlieb claimed that the two ministers are working on establishing a coordinating committee mechanism that would allow them to maintain their power within the party.

Gottlieb stated that Levin and Katz are frightened by recent poll results and have chosen to disregard Likud voters by transferring decision-making power to local mayors. She warned that canceling the primaries would alienate Likud supporters and reduce the party's electoral strength, emphasizing that primaries are fundamental to the party's identity and that only primaries should determine candidate selection.

In a video message, Gottlieb reiterated her accusations, saying the ministers fear losing influence as reflected in multiple polls and that canceling the primaries could mark the last term for the Likud party. She urged maintaining the internal election system and called on the ministers to earn voters' trust rather than push for an alternative mechanism that undermines democratic processes within the party.
