“Disappointed With His Role,” Rivero Is on His Way Out of Crvena Zvezda

Former Maccabi player Hassiel Rivero still has a contract, but is expected to leave the Serbian club. Will Bolomboy also move?

Hassiel Rivero is remembered fondly from his time in the Maccabi Tel Aviv uniform between 2023 and 2025, but after leaving the Yellows last summer, things have not really worked out for him. The center, as noted, moved to Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, but suffered injuries during the past season in which he played only 9 EuroLeague games, posting weak averages of 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in a total of 9:49 minutes.

He also played sparingly in the domestic league, appearing in only 9 games and averaging about 12 minutes per game, and now it appears he is looking for a change. "Crvena Zvezda is expected to make many changes under the basket," wrote the Serbian outlet Informer, "Hassiel Rivero is on his way out."

As is known, Rivero has a contract until 2027, but according to reports in Serbia, that contract is expected to be cut short before it expires. "The Cuban is very disappointed with his status in the team last season, and many clubs are interested in him."

At the same time, Rivero is not the only one on the way out, center Joel Bolomboy is also expected to move, according to the report. Unlike Rivero, Bolomboy will finish his contract this coming summer, after a season in which he too was injured quite a bit. In 15 EuroLeague games, he averaged 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 14:27 minutes.
