Hassiel Rivero Released by Crvena Zvezda, Seeks New Team Ahead of EuroLeague Season
Hassiel Rivero, the 32-year-old Cuban center, has been released by Crvena Zvezda Belgrade and is now a free agent. Rivero, who previously played two seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv before moving to Serbia last summer, had a challenging season due to a serious injury. He appeared in only 18 games for Crvena Zvezda, including nine EuroLeague matches, averaging 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in under 10 minutes per game.
Although Rivero's contract included an option for the upcoming season, both parties agreed not to exercise it. As a result, he is currently exploring his next destination, with no confirmation yet on whether he will continue playing in the EuroLeague. Rivero's best EuroLeague season was in 2024-25 during his second year with Maccabi Tel Aviv, when he averaged 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
The EuroLeague season is set to begin in nearly three months, and the player market is already active with numerous signings. Rivero's next move remains uncertain as he looks for a new club to join ahead of the new campaign.
