Hassiel Rivero is remembered fondly for his time in the Maccabi Tel Aviv jersey between 2023 and 2025, but after leaving the Yellows last summer, things did not really work out for him. The center, as recalled, moved to Red Star Belgrade, but suffered injuries during the past season in which he played only 9 EuroLeague games, posting poor averages of 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in 9:49 minutes overall.
He also saw limited action in the domestic league, appearing in only 9 games and averaging about 12 minutes per game, and it now appears he is looking for a change. "Red Star is expected to make many changes in the paint," wrote the Serbian outlet Informer, "Hassiel Rivero is on his way out."
As is known, Rivero has a contract through 2027, but according to reports in Serbia, that deal is expected to be cut short before it expires. "The Cuban is very disappointed with his status in the team last season, and many clubs are interested in him."
At the same time, Rivero is not the only one heading out, center Joel Bolomboy is also expected to leave, according to the report. Unlike Rivero, Bolomboy will finish his contract this summer, after a season in which he too was sidelined by injuries for long stretches. In 15 EuroLeague games, he averaged 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 14:27 minutes per game.
