Firefighters Rescue Five From Burning Residential Building in Tiberias

A fire broke out on Thursday morning in a two-story residential building on Jerusalem Street in Tiberias, resulting in five people being injured. Four firefighting teams from the Tiberias station responded to reports of a fire in the stairwell. Upon arrival, they encountered thick smoke rising from the lower floor to the second floor, blocking escape routes for residents trapped inside their apartments.

Under challenging smoky conditions, firefighters quickly entered the burning building, conducting searches and locating three trapped individuals whom they rescued and handed over to emergency medical teams. In total, five residents were evacuated suffering from smoke inhalation, with their condition described as moderate.

Incident commander Chief Fire Officer Shmuel Achituv recounted the critical moments, stating, "We were dispatched to a building fire with reports of several trapped people on the second floor unable to escape due to heavy smoke. Firefighters immediately entered the smoke-filled building, found the trapped individuals, and quickly rescued them to medical personnel."

Fire crews are continuing efforts to fully extinguish the fire, ventilate the apartments, and conduct additional searches to ensure no one else remains inside the building.
