Israeli Commando Dog Killed After Neutralizing Terrorist in Bint Jbeil Operation
An Israeli commando dog was killed during a search operation in Bint Jbeil on Tuesday, following a Thursday attack where a reservist soldier was seriously wounded. The search was conducted by the 679th Reserve Brigade of the Yiftach Division in the building where the initial clash took place. During the operation, a terrorist inside the building opened fire on the Israeli forces but was killed by a female commando from the Oketz Unit. No Israeli personnel were injured in the incident except for the dog.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated their commitment to removing all threats against their forces and preventing Hezbollah from harming Israeli civilians. Meanwhile, Israel and Lebanon have reached a framework agreement, though its implementation has not yet begun. The agreement includes Israeli withdrawal from two "pilot" zones.
A Lebanese diplomatic source told Al Jazeera that Israel requested to move negotiations to Rome, a proposal rejected by Beirut. The source accused Israel of trying to avoid implementing the pilot zones before upcoming Israeli elections and highlighted two critical upcoming events: the withdrawal from pilot zones and Lebanese President Michel Aoun's planned visit to Washington. President Aoun is scheduled to visit the White House on July 21 to meet U.S. President Donald Trump, aiming to secure a security agreement that ensures the return of displaced persons and regional stability.
