Israeli Combat Dog Skar Uncovers Hezbollah Ambush in Lebanon, Dies Saving Golani Fighters

An Israeli Golani Brigade reconnaissance unit recently discovered a Hezbollah bunker on the slopes of the Litani River in Lebanon. The unit deployed Skar, a combat dog from the Oketz unit, to scan the underground tunnel system. During the operation, militants exposed themselves by throwing a grenade and firing at Skar, revealing their position to the Israeli forces.

The encounter lasted several hours, resulting in the elimination of three militants. After the battle, Skar was sent again to the bunker entrance to ensure no further threats remained. Near the structure, Skar detected additional militants hiding in bushes, preparing an ambush against the soldiers. Skar attacked, exposing the ambush but was fatally shot by one of the militants during the engagement. Footage shows Skar pinning a militant to the ground, preventing harm to the soldiers.

Major A from the Oketz unit explained that combat dogs are carefully selected and trained to withstand explosions, gunfire, helicopters, and tanks, preparing them for battlefield conditions. Since the war began on October 7, 36 combat dogs have been killed, but their actions have saved hundreds of soldiers. Explosive detection dogs have uncovered 350 explosive devices, while attack dogs like Skar have identified dozens of militants across various combat zones.
