Israeli Health Ministry Bans Hair Straightening Product After Severe Kidney Failure Case

The Israeli Ministry of Health issued an urgent warning on Tuesday against the use, marketing, sale, or distribution of the hair straightening product "LEGEND" following a serious medical incident in Hadera. A woman was hospitalized in intensive care with severe kidney failure after receiving a hair straightening treatment at a home-based salon in the city. Upon receiving the medical report, the Ministry launched an inspection and conducted a surprise check at the manufacturing facility listed on the product label. Preliminary findings raised serious concerns that the substance used in the home salon differed in appearance and characteristics from the original approved product made at the factory. The Ministry regards the incident with great severity and, suspecting product forgery, dilution, or alteration, referred the case to enforcement authorities and filed an official complaint with the Israeli police to initiate a criminal investigation. The Ministry emphasized that purchasing hair straightening products from unauthorized sources or using them outside licensed conditions endangers public health.
