Unidentified Security Guards Assault Border Police at Qalandiya Checkpoint, Incident Under Investigation

Two suspects driving a civilian vehicle from the West Bank approached the Qalandiya checkpoint, specifically at a gate designated for security forces only. Border Police officers attempted to verify their identities, but the two men exited the vehicle and attacked the officers with punches and chokeholds, even attempting to seize their weapons. The police later identified the suspects as security guards who had not properly identified themselves. During the confrontation, a female officer fired a warning shot into the air. When the suspects continued their assault, another officer shot at their lower bodies, wounding them lightly. Several Border Police officers also sustained minor injuries. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
