Barcelona coach Hansi Flick views Israeli player Ori Goren as a "game-changing talent" who requires further development, according to reports from Catalan sports media. Goren, who has been included in Barcelona's squad for recent matches against Real Madrid and Aston Villa, is being closely monitored by Flick. The coach reportedly wants Goren to train regularly with the senior team to experience its intensity, while also gaining playing time and becoming a key player for the reserve team, Barcelona Athletic.
Flick, known for not readily praising young players, especially from La Masia, believes that excessive hype can be detrimental to developing talents. Despite Goren still being a youth player for his second year, he is considered indispensable for Barcelona Athletic and was the academy player who spent the most time under Flick's command during preseason. He also participated in the Joan Gamper Trophy match and played minutes with the senior team.
In addition to his progress at Barcelona, Goren recently received his first call-up to the Israeli national team from coach Ran Ben Shimon. The Catalan sports reports emphasize that Barcelona must address Goren's contract extension soon as part of a project to secure his place in the first team in the near future.
