Israeli Police Shoot and Neutralize Knife Attacker in Lod During Arrest Attempt
During a police operation in Lod on Wednesday morning, officers from the Lod police station spotted a suspect armed with a knife and ordered him to stop. The suspect ran toward a team of Border Police (Yasam) officers present at the scene and allegedly attempted to stab one of the officers. In response, one of the officers fired at the attacker, neutralizing him. There were no injuries among the police forces.
Large forces from the Central District Police are currently securing the scene, isolating the area, and collecting evidence. The circumstances and background of the incident are under investigation. Central District Police Commander, Commissioner Amir Cohen, is en route to the scene to conduct a situation assessment.
This incident follows a recent stabbing murder of Rabbi Amos Guetta, where the suspect arrived at the rabbi's home, stabbed him, and fled. The police continue to investigate related security concerns in the area.
