Rare archival footage of Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas's military wing, and other senior officials was broadcast Friday on Al Jazeera's program "The Hidden Hand." The recordings include military command meetings held in tunnels, discussions preceding the October 7th attack, and Deif himself in a tunnel during the war.
Al Jazeera also presented documents it claims reveal the planning process for the attack. One video shows Deif walking in a tunnel, wearing a hat and speaking with aides. Other footage depicts senior Hamas military officials greeting each other, convening for meetings, and praying underground. Identified participants included Deif's deputy, Marwan Issa, Mohammed Sinwar, Azz al-Din al-Haddad, Raad Saad, Ahmed Randor, and Raffah Salameh.
The program also featured a recording of Deif with former Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh in a rocket production workshop. Another segment showed Deif in the organization's operations room, examining models of Israeli tanks and discussing the combat plan with brigade commanders.
Alongside the video evidence, Al Jazeera released documents allegedly detailing the preparations for the October 7th attack.
