The Central Elections Committee has issued a clarification following reports of a Shin Bet investigation initiated under the direction of Committee Chairman Judge Noam Sohlberg. In a filmed statement released late Thursday night, Acting Director-General Dean Livna dismissed the day's publications as unfounded.

Livna explained that the investigation began after the head of the Shin Bet presented classified information to the committee chairman. Key aspects of this information had previously been shared with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid, and National Unity Party Chairman Gadi Eisenkot, with Sohlberg's approval.

Livna emphasized that the information is highly classified, and the circle of individuals exposed to it is very small. "It is not possible to reveal further details, but reports published during the day are entirely unfounded," he stated.

He further clarified that the investigation is proceeding alongside the Central Elections Committee's ongoing procedures and is not expected to affect the final results submitted to the President. The investigation is not directed at any specific sector. Upon completion, its findings will be transferred to the committee chairman for review of its scope and implications. The committee pledged to update the public as soon as possible, subject to security restrictions.
