Shimi Tavori Celebrates 50 Years in Music, Reflects on Career

Israeli singer Shimi Tavori is celebrating 50 years in the music industry. In a recent interview with Kan News, Tavori discussed his extensive career, noting that he has recorded approximately 200 songs and continues to release new music. He is preparing for a special performance at the Tel Aviv Cultural Hall on November 4th as part of the Tel Aviv Festival, with Shlomi Shaban serving as artistic director.

Tavori expressed surprise at how quickly the 50 years have passed, stating, "You look back and say: 'Wow, how did it go? 50 years! 50 years, how did they fly by without feeling it?'" He also highlighted the enduring connection with his audience, observing that many young listeners are familiar with his hits. Tavori recounted a recent performance at the Barby club where a thousand people sang along to his songs.

Despite his long career, Tavori stated he no longer feels nervous before performing, explaining, "I live it all the time, truly for many years, so I don't get excited." However, he emphasized that he has no intention of retiring, saying, "I enjoy every song I sing." When selecting songs for his celebratory show, Tavori prioritizes those that encourage audience participation.

Addressing the current political climate and security situation in Israel, Tavori offered a message of unity, wishing for a good year, an end to war, the safe return of soldiers, and reconciliation between political factions. He urged Israelis to avoid animosity and work towards a better future.
