The IDF's Combat Fitness Championship has returned after a four-year break, held at Bahad 8 with approximately 2,500 soldiers and commanders from 49 units participating. The competition, which included navigation, obstacle courses, shooting under duress, and casualty evacuation, was updated with challenges reflecting lessons learned from recent combat operations.

The three-day event featured participants from special forces, infantry brigades, training bases, and border defense units. They were tested on physical and operational capabilities across five main disciplines simulating battlefield scenarios. A new feature was a commanders' navigation competition in an open area designed to mimic the complex, wooded terrain of Lebanon.

Competitions included a five-kilometer navigation and obstacle course for commanders, a team obstacle course involving carrying stretchers simulating casualty evacuation, and a krav maga test. The team event required 12 soldiers led by an officer to carry 80-kilogram stretchers for two kilometers, alongside simulated casualty evacuation drills.

Results were announced in nine categories. In infantry brigades, the Paratroopers Brigade took first place, followed by the Nahal Brigade and the Givati Brigade. Shayetet 13 won the special forces category, with the Commando Brigade and Yahalom unit placing second and third, respectively. Other winners included the Naval Academy in the elite units category, Bahad Givati in brigade training bases, Shayetet 3 in operational brigades, the Border Defense School in training brigades, Fluga 916 in border defense, and Battalion 869 in combat reconnaissance battalions.

Aluf Mishne (res.) Avi Dahan, Commander of the Combat Fitness Array, stated that the championship underwent a significant transformation based on operational experience from the recent war. He explained that the navigation area simulated the Litani area, the obstacle course included tire crossings representing Gaza's ruins, and the team exercise emphasized intense combat and casualty evacuation. Dahan emphasized that beyond the competition, the primary goal is to ensure the operational readiness of soldiers and commanders for future challenges, serving as a standard for maintaining fitness in routine times.
