Yaron Avraham, a political correspondent and news anchor for Israel's Channel 12, has launched a personal WhatsApp channel to share updates and information directly with his audience. In a message announcing the channel, Avraham stated it would provide "sharp updates, interesting information, and angles that don't always make the headlines," promising content without "background noise" or "rambling," focusing only on what is "truly important to know."
Initially, the channel attracted 598 followers shortly after its launch. However, Avraham is not new to independent content distribution. He and journalist Yenir Cousin already co-manage a Telegram channel with tens of thousands of subscribers. This venture began in January 2020 with the launch of "12 at 99," offering a less formal mix of updates, gossip, archive clips, analyses, polls, and other content. That channel has since grown to approximately 45,000 subscribers.
Avraham has a significant social media presence, with an estimated total audience of around 331,000 followers across various platforms as of October 2026. This includes approximately 124,000 followers on X, 84,000 on Instagram, 58,000 on TikTok, and 20,000 on Facebook.
The Telegram channel experienced a security incident in November 2024 when pro-Iranian hackers took control, posting threatening and antisemitic content and identifying themselves as the "Iranian Cyber Army." The new WhatsApp channel adds to Avraham's existing platforms, with a particular emphasis on delivering exclusive reports that might not reach mainstream headlines.
