The Central Elections Committee is scheduled to convene this evening at 7:15 PM to consider extending voting hours beyond the current 10:00 PM closing time. Parties aligned with the governing coalition, including the Likud party, have submitted a request to prolong the balloting period, citing record-breaking voter turnout. Residents of small communities in the Arava Valley region in the south have also called for an extension. Their request stems from the closure of Road 90 due to flash floods, which impacts their ability to reach polling stations. Notably, polling stations in these southern communities close at 8:00 PM, unlike most others which close at 10:00 PM.
