Israeli Teen Oriyon Goren Makes Historic Barcelona Squad for El Clásico

Oriyon Goren, a 17-year-old Israeli football prospect, achieved a unique milestone by being included in the senior squad for Barcelona's prestigious El Clásico match against Real Madrid on Sunday. Goren, who has been a standout player for Barcelona's reserve team, became the first Israeli footballer ever to be part of the squad for such a high-profile game.

The broadcast captured the team's preparations, including the players disembarking from the bus. Goren was seen alongside other prominent Barcelona stars like Gabriel Jesus, Frenkie de Jong, Alejandro Balde, Pau Cubarsí, Gavi, and João Cancelo.

Spanish reports indicated that Goren's inclusion was due to an injury to player Dani Olmo. He had reportedly attended all training sessions that week, and coach Xavi Hernández had been monitoring him for years, impressed by his technical ability and game intelligence. Goren has drawn comparisons to legendary players Andrés Iniesta and Pedri.

According to Catalan sports outlet 'Sport', Goren is described as hungry and eager to improve, qualities that Xavi values. His ability to create offensive plays and contribute to his teammates both with and without the ball was also highlighted.
