Hundreds of mourners gathered on Monday to bid farewell to Sergeant Ron Yonatan Reutman, 23, from Ashkelon, who was killed in a shooting attack at the Yehuda Junction last Friday. Reutman, who served in the Home Front Command's "Ari" (775) battalion, fell alongside his comrade Sergeant Yuval Shai Soilem from Hod HaSharon. The funeral was held at the military cemetery in Ashkelon.

According to an initial investigation, the attackers emerged from Hebron in a vehicle loaded with ammunition and encountered a checkpoint manned by Reutman's battalion. The soldiers engaged the vehicle approximately 300 meters from Route 35. Reutman and Soilem sustained critical injuries and were pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts failed. Three other soldiers were wounded, ranging from light to moderate, and were evacuated to a hospital for treatment.
