Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara has opposed a meeting requested by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with the Police Commissioner regarding the management and integrity of election day operations. The Attorney General's office submitted its formal response on Sunday, following an inquiry from the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee and Vice President of the Supreme Court, Justice Noam Sohlberg.

In the response, prepared by attorney Roi Shweika of the State Prosecutor's Office, it was clarified that the Israel Police operates under Section 150 of the Knesset Elections Law. The management of elections and ensuring their proper conduct are the sole responsibility of professional officials and the Elections Committee. The legal counsel stated that their review found no record of such a meeting ever having occurred previously.

Given the circumstances, the Attorney General's office determined that there is no justification for a meeting concerning election management or similar matters that fall exclusively under the purview of the Elections Committee chairman. The response emphatically stated that political figures or candidates have no place in involvement with these issues.
