A new book by investigative journalist Matthew Cole, "Princes and Thieves," alleges that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assisted Jared Kushner, former President Donald Trump's son-in-law and advisor, in concealing significant financial transfers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the book, during Trump's first term, UAE and Saudi Arabian leadership granted Kushner access to two secret bank accounts holding approximately $2 billion. One account, at First Abu Dhabi Bank and linked to UAE authorities, reportedly allowed Kushner to control funds designated for unofficial diplomatic and other Middle East operations.

Cole claims that in spring 2018, about $1 billion was transferred from the UAE via Azerbaijan to an account at the Bank of Israel. Netanyahu allegedly recommended Kushner use the Israeli central bank to disguise the transaction as a state financial operation, making it difficult to trace back to UAE leadership. A source cited in the book stated the funds were intended for Kushner himself, despite the Bank of Israel not servicing private accounts. The book further alleges Netanyahu demanded prior notification of transfers from this account, with messages purportedly relayed through then-U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

Friedman has vehemently denied any knowledge or involvement in the alleged scheme. The book also suggests that part of the money was later moved to accounts in Cyprus. Cole's investigation reportedly stems from information initially obtained by Dutch military intelligence, which allegedly gained access to Kushner's phone after intercepting materials stolen by Russian hackers, allowing them to monitor his banking activities.

Jared Kushner has strongly refuted the accusations, calling them "absolutely insane" and "categorically false" in a post on X, emphasizing the lack of verifiable evidence. His lawyer stated that the accounts described never existed. The office of Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet commented on the book's claims. The book, subtitled "Jared Kushner and Mohamed bin Zayed's Secret Plot to Remake the Middle East," is scheduled for release on October 27 by Simon & Schuster.
