A Florida resident has been arrested on suspicion of threatening to murder U.S. Representative Jared Moskowitz, a Jewish Democrat, in a voicemail message. Moskowitz, who represents a South Florida district, announced the arrest on social media platform X on Thursday. He stated that the suspect, who lives near Moskowitz's home in Boca Raton, left a threatening message on his office's voicemail earlier that day, saying he wanted to slit the congressman's throat. Moskowitz provided the recording to authorities, who traced the call and apprehended the suspect. This incident is the latest in a series of threats Moskowitz has faced in recent years due to his public stance against antisemitism. In November 2024, a Florida man was arrested for possessing weapons and a list of potential Jewish targets, including Moskowitz. That individual was later sentenced to 25 years in federal prison. Earlier this year, Moskowitz also reported receiving antisemitic threats and offensive messages, including calls to kill Jews and warnings that he himself would 'fall'.
