A 74-year-old pensioner and a 36-year-old pharmacist have been indicted for allegedly operating a drug distribution network using a pharmacy near Netanya. The prosecution filed charges on Thursday, October 22, against David Attar, from Kadima-Tzoran, and Jamil Suwaid, a pharmacist from the Bedouin village of Salamah in the Galilee. Investigators believe the pair ran a drug and prescription medication sales operation for about six months from the "Club Pharm" pharmacy located in the "Em HaDerech" shopping center. During a search of Attar's home, large sums of cash were discovered. According to the indictment, Attar was responsible for obtaining dozens of forged medical prescription forms, identity cards, and inserts. Suwaid, working as the pharmacist, allegedly dispensed medications based on these fake documents, knowingly accepting them as valid. Attar is accused of using forged stamps from 18 specialist doctors on at least 117 prescription forms, which were then filled out for unsuspecting individuals, including Attar's wife and other relatives. Attar allegedly kept records of these forged prescriptions. He reportedly visited the pharmacy where Suwaid worked dozens of times as part of the criminal conspiracy. The indictment states Suwaid dispensed "commercial quantities" of medications, including 650 fentanyl patches, 1,560 Percocet tablets, and 3,030 Ritalin tablets, without verifying customer identities, violating his professional duties. Suwaid allegedly received 400 to 500 shekels per prescription, accumulating an illegal income of 58,000 shekels. Attar, after obtaining the drugs through intermediaries, resold them for cash and exchanged some funds for foreign currency, with an estimated laundered capital of 335,000 shekels. Both men face charges including criminal conspiracy, using forged documents, fraud, and drug trafficking. Attar is also charged with document forgery and money laundering. The prosecution has requested that the defendants be held in custody until the trial concludes, citing their danger to society and their alleged transformation of the pharmacy into a drug distribution channel.
