Israeli actress and model Sherry Givati has filed a NIS 500,000 defamation lawsuit in Jerusalem against Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian territories. The lawsuit stems from a tweet Albanese posted on X, formerly Twitter, which allegedly compared statements Givati made in an interview to arguments used by Nazi officials during the Nuremberg trials to justify the murder of children in the Holocaust.

According to the lawsuit, Albanese's tweet was based on a 23-second edited video circulated online a year after the original interview. The video was reportedly taken out of context, with partial English translation, and garnered over two million views and tens of thousands of shares. Givati claims Albanese distorted her words, falsely portraying her as supporting child murder and directly endangering her personal safety.

Following the publication, Givati reported receiving numerous hate messages and death threats. The lawsuit also asserts that the false damage to her reputation jeopardizes her professional work with international organizations and brands. "As a mother of children, I am horrified by the false comparison," Givati stated, emphasizing her refusal to remain silent against attempts to slander her and Israel.

Givati is represented by attorney Nitzana Darshan-Leitner of the Shurat HaDin organization, who stated that this is a campaign against an antisemitic libel and that Albanese cannot hide behind diplomatic immunity any longer.
