Two Arrested in Tiberias Community Center Burglary, Charged with Theft

Police in Tiberias arrested two men, aged 37 and 56, on suspicion of burglarizing a community center and stealing equipment valued at approximately 15,000 shekels. The incident occurred overnight on September 30, 2026, when police received a report of a break-in. Responding officers discovered that tools, a water dispenser, fitness equipment, and other valuables had been stolen, and significant damage was caused to the premises.

During an extensive search of the area, officers apprehended the first suspect near the community center. He initially claimed to be waiting for a friend but was detained. He later confessed to the police, stating, "My friend and I stole the equipment." Shortly after, a second suspect was located nearby. This individual attempted to flee in his vehicle, which was found to have a forged license plate that he tried to remove in front of the officers.

During an altercation between the two suspects, one allegedly threatened the other with a knife, saying, "How do you blame me? I'll take a knife and stab you." Both suspects, residents of Tiberias and Netivot, had their detentions extended multiple times. Following the investigation, the prosecution filed an indictment against them at the Tiberias Magistrate's Court.
