Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Monday that he was unaware of and did not request the "absolute support" recently declared for him by U.S. President Donald Trump. In an interview with Radio Galey Israel, Netanyahu was asked if he had prior knowledge of Trump's statement. "I did not know and I also did not ask, I was very flattered and certainly moved," the Prime Minister replied.

Netanyahu explained that Trump's declaration followed a previous day's expression of appreciation for their cooperation. "I understood that he wanted to express appreciation for our relationship and the common achievements we have attained, which are truly historic," he said. "But I did not expect it and did not ask for it either, that is the absolute truth."

Addressing the unequivocal nature of Trump's statement, Netanyahu emphasized that the relationship between them transcends personal ties. "The personal friendship between us is long-standing, but I think it goes beyond that," Netanyahu stated. "Sometimes there are also ups and downs in friendships, but this consistency stems from two things: mutual appreciation."

According to the Prime Minister, their cooperation is anchored in a primary shared objective: preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. "In the end, we accept each other and work with each other for one huge goal, and that is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons that threaten Israel with annihilation," he concluded.
