Hundreds of Gur Hasidim rioted in Arad overnight, blocking and attacking a joint patrol car and assaulting an inspector, according to witness accounts. The incident began when Arad police officers responded to a noise complaint at an apartment. One individual mistakenly believed the police were there to arrest a draft dodger and summoned others to prevent it. This led to the arrival of hundreds of Hasidim, despite no draft dodger arrest being planned.

The inspector, who was in the patrol car with a policewoman, described how their vehicle was blocked on Yehuda Street. When the policewoman exited, the inspector followed to provide security and was then attacked by several individuals. "They surrounded me from all sides, knocked me to the ground, tried to take my belongings and took my radio," the inspector recounted. He warned the attackers he would use pepper spray if they did not desist. After they continued their assault, he deployed the spray on those closest to him while moving back toward the patrol car.

The inspector and policewoman then entered the patrol car and locked the doors and windows. However, the rioting continued, with protesters kicking the vehicle and throwing eggs and stones at it. Additional patrol cars, including MAGAV and YASAM units, were called to the scene to reinforce forces and restore order. The patrol car sustained damage during the attack.

Arad Mayor Yair Maayan condemned the violent riot against police officers and demanded that the Minister of Public Security and the Police Commissioner take immediate action against those involved. "Israel will not be an anarchy. It is inconceivable that police officers enforcing the law will be attacked by a group of residents trying to harm the law and its enforcement," Maayan stated, calling for the rioters to be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
