Rabbi Shmuel Yitzchak Mallow, a longtime and beloved educator in the Kiryat Malachi neighborhood of Nachalat Har Chabad, passed away suddenly on Monday at the age of 51. Mallow, who managed the neighborhood's evening yeshiva for many years, was also a son-in-law of the local Chabad community's senior rabbi, Rabbi Yitzchak Yehuda Yeruslavsky. News of Mallow's death was conveyed to Yeruslavsky on Monday morning. According to reports from the neighborhood, Mallow awoke on Monday, performed the ritual hand washing, and then suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Emergency services were called to the scene but were forced to pronounce him dead, to the deep sorrow of his family, numerous acquaintances, and community members. The news shocked thousands of Chabad families in the neighborhood and friends of the family throughout Israel and the world.

Mallow was known for his dedication to educating Jewish children. He managed the local evening yeshiva, where hundreds of children gathered nightly for Torah study. Friends described him as a scholar, deeply versed in both revealed and mystical aspects of Torah, who felt a strong internal mission to spread Torah. He organized annual "Torah gatherings" near holidays, following the directive of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to convene for Torah and Halacha lessons. Mallow was born 51 years ago in Bnei Brak to Rabbi Tzvi Eliyahu Mallow, a Chabad activist in Jerusalem, who passed away six years ago. His mother, Hena Chaya, daughter of Rabbi Yaakov Moshe HaCohen Halperin, died young in 1990 at the age of 40.

Mallow's funeral was scheduled to depart from his home at 12:30 PM, passing by the local Talmud Torah and central synagogue before proceeding to Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem. The procession from Shamgar was set to leave at 3:00 PM for burial at Har HaMenuchot cemetery in Jerusalem. Kiryat Malachi residents organized a bus to transport community members to the funeral in Jerusalem.
