Hapoel Emek has surprisingly dismissed coach Sharon Avrahami after just one game of the 2026/27 Ligat Ha'al season. The team lost its opening match 86-85 to Kiryat Ata. Avrahami had led the team to notable achievements last season, including reaching the State Cup semifinals.
The dismissal stems from disagreements between Avrahami and the club's management, leading to the unexpected parting of ways so early in the season. The club must now find a replacement for the coach and work to stabilize the team following this early-season upheaval.
The decision came as a shock to the players, who were surprised by the move and did not anticipate such an early departure, especially after only one league game. Avrahami was well-liked by the players, and the management's decision left them stunned.
Hapoel Emek is scheduled to host Rishon LeZion on Monday in their first game without Avrahami on the sidelines. The team hopes to secure its first win and find some stability during this challenging period.
