Maccabi Haifa to Decide Which Fringe Players Join Training Camp

Maccabi Haifa’s coaching staff is expected to tell the players on Sunday who will travel to the team’s training camp and who will stay in Israel to work with a separate staff set up for them. The club has several contracted players who are not planned to be part of next season’s squad, and it wants the camp to remain as focused and effective as possible.

Among the main uncertainties are Dolev Haziza, Goni Naor and Peter Agba. Haziza has already been told he is not in the club’s sporting plans, but he is still training with the team until he leaves. A decision will be made Sunday on whether he goes to the camp, and he may be told to remain in Israel. Naor also returned to training after spending last season on loan at Larissa in Greece, but his inclusion is still in doubt. Haifa want to find another club for Agba, but no deal has been reached.

Trivante Stewart will go to the camp, although if a club agrees to buy him for more than 1 million euros, he could ultimately stay at the club. Matthias Nahuel and Xander Severina are not expected to travel. There is also uncertainty over Amit Erzi, who is expected to leave on loan, possibly to Ironi Kiryat Shmona, and over Niv Gabai, who is also likely to be loaned out, possibly to a team coached by Shay Brda.

Haifa are due to depart on Tuesday for the camp in Hungary. During the trip, they will play two friendlies, against Hungarian side Paks and Scottish club Dundee FC.
