Maccabi Haifa Excludes Stewart and Haziza From Upcoming Training Camp
Maccabi Haifa is set to depart for its preseason training camp in Hungary tomorrow, but two key players, Tribente Stewart and Dolev Haziza, will not be joining the squad. Stewart requested a delayed arrival, casting uncertainty over his future with the club. The team is open to selling him if they can recoup the 1.5 million euros they paid last summer, and Stewart is not expected to block a transfer.
Haziza, 30, is seeking a new club but will only leave if he finds a destination that meets his professional and financial expectations. During this period, he will train locally at Kfar Galim. The club decided it was inappropriate for him to attend the camp under the current circumstances, a decision communicated to him by sporting director Lior Rafaelov and coach Barak Bachar in a recent discussion.
Stewart joined Maccabi Haifa last summer from Serbian club Radnicki and scored 12 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. Haziza has been a central figure since joining from Bnei Yehuda in the 2019/20 season, contributing to three league titles, a Super Cup victory, and the club's historic qualification to the Champions League group stage in 2022/23. He also assisted a memorable goal against PSG at Sammy Ofer Stadium.
