The Paris Auto Show, one of Europe's significant automotive events, is opening its doors, with Chinese manufacturers aiming to capture a larger share of the European market. While global automotive innovation has increasingly shifted to China, Chinese carmakers are now targeting Europe as their domestic market reaches saturation.

Hyundai will unveil its European version of the new Tucson, which differs significantly from the model sold in Israel in its interior and exterior design, though the powertrain has been upgraded. The new Tucson measures 4,560 millimeters long, an increase of 35 millimeters, with a 40-millimeter longer wheelbase for improved passenger space. Its hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains are based on a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine, offering increased power and cleaner emissions, with upgraded batteries for longer electric range in plug-in versions.

BYD is set to display its Shark pickup truck and, importantly for the Israeli market, the Dolphin G, which is expected to be the most affordable plug-in hybrid in Israel. The Dolphin G will offer two powertrain options, both using 1.5-liter engines. The base version produces 172 horsepower with an estimated 40 km electric range, while the top model delivers 210 horsepower and claims up to 105 km of electric range. The base model supports AC charging only.

Geely will introduce its flagship SUV, the Monjaro, to Europe. This five-seater SUV measures 4.79 meters long and features a plug-in hybrid system. Its 1.5-liter gasoline engine acts as a generator, powering electric motors that combine for 340 horsepower, with an official electric-only range of 131 km.

Chery's Omoda brand will present the Omoda 4 in Europe, aiming to compete in the more accessible segment. This model shares its hybrid powertrain with other Chery group vehicles, including the Jaecoo 5, delivering a combined 224 horsepower from its 1.5-liter gasoline engine and electric system. A fully electric version will also be available. The Omoda 4 is 4.4 meters long and is expected to be more equipped than the Jaecoo 5.

Renault is hinting at a return for its iconic Espace model, this time as an electric concept car. The original Espace, launched in the 1980s, was known for its innovative minivan design. The new concept measures 4.7 meters, but technical details remain scarce.
