A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Thursday after being hit by a taxi on Route 20 northbound near the HaShalom Interchange. Magen David Adom teams were called to the scene and pronounced him dead there. Police opened an investigation into the fatal crash.
Traffic in the area was heavily congested, and officers were directing vehicles at the scene. Police urged drivers to avoid the area and follow instructions from the officers.
MDA paramedics Simcha Simanduev, Yedidya Wogesel, Raziel Yusupovich and Noam Raz said they found a “shocking traffic accident between a car and a motorcycle.” They reported that the motorcycle was smashed on the roadside and the rider lay nearby unconscious, with no pulse or breathing and suffering multiple traumatic injuries. “We performed medical checks, his injuries were very severe, and we had to declare him dead at the scene,” they said.
The crash came just days after a similar incident on Sunday, when another motorcyclist, also about 50, was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Route 20 near the HaShalom Interchange in Tel Aviv. In that case, MDA attempted resuscitation at the scene before pronouncing him dead. Paramedics Amit Shoshan and Naama Shnir said bystanders shouted for help as they drove in the ambulance, and that they immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts before being forced to declare the rider dead.
