A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning on Highway 20, near the Hashalom Interchange, after being hit in a crash involving a truck. Magen David Adom medics and paramedics carried out resuscitation efforts, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Israel Police road accident investigators have opened an inquiry into the circumstances of the collision. Police are at the site directing traffic, and motorists were asked to avoid the area and follow officers’ instructions.
The crash caused heavy traffic congestion on the Ayalon Highway.
The fatal crash came a day after another motorcyclist was killed. On Saturday night, a 24-year-old rider died in a collision involving a private car on Highway 4 near the Masubim Interchange. According to medical officials, he was taken to hospital in critical condition, where his death was later declared. Traffic investigators are also probing that case.
