A man in his 50s was killed Sunday morning in a collision between his motorcycle and a truck on Highway 20 near the Hashalom Interchange. Emergency crews reached the scene after calls came in at about 6:52 a.m., but they were forced to pronounce him dead there because of severe multi-system injuries.
United Hatzalah medics Zachi Fishman and Yosef Chaim Maluka said the crash involved a truck and a motorcyclist who suffered critical injuries. “Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene due to the nature of the severe injuries he sustained,” they said.
MDA paramedics Amit Shushan and Naama Shnir said bystanders flagged down the ambulance team. “We saw a motorcycle rider lying on the road, a man in his 50s, unconscious, without pulse and without breathing after being hit by a vehicle. We immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts, and at the end we had to pronounce his death at the scene,” they said.
Police opened a broad investigation into the circumstances of the crash. The fatality came less than a day after another deadly motorcycle accident on Saturday night on Highway 4 near the Aluf Sade Interchange, where a 24-year-old man was critically injured in a crash with a private car, evacuated to Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer during prolonged resuscitation efforts, and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
