Oren Aharoni has reached an agreement to coach Eilat and is expected to sign formally in the coming days. The move, which has been approved by Maccabi Tel Aviv, would take him back to the Israeli Basketball Premier League after serving as the professional director of Maccabi’s youth department.
Aharoni has headed Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth program in recent years and has also coached Bnei Herzliya, Hapoel Haifa and Hapoel Beersheba/Dimona. In 2022 he was named Coach of the Year and led Herzliya to the State Cup title.
Eilat is coming off a dominant season in the National League, finishing first with a 29-1 record. Coach Gal Hashin left after the season, and the club is now turning to one of Israel’s prominent coaches to lead it back toward the top tier of Israeli basketball.
