Oren Aharoni in Line for Hapoel Eilat Job
Oren Aharoni, the professional director of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth department, is close to becoming the next coach of Hapoel Eilat, according to a first report published on June 16, 2026 at 12:57.
If finalized, the move would bring Aharoni back to senior men’s basketball and to the sidelines in Israel’s Premier League. Eilat is the newly promoted club that played last season under head coach Elad Hasin.
Aharoni has spent recent years overseeing Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth system, and before that he coached Bnei Herzliya, Hapoel Haifa, and Hapoel Beersheba/Dimona. In 2022, he was named Coach of the Year and led Herzliya to the State Cup title.
Eilat finished the previous season first in the National League with a 29-1 record, and Hasin departed after the campaign ended. The report says Aharoni could now take charge and try to restore the club to the top tier of Israeli basketball.
