Oren Aharoni Emerges as a Candidate to Coach Hapoel Eilat
Oren Aharoni is close to Hapoel Eilat and may return to senior basketball by taking over on the sideline in the Israeli Premier League. The report says the professional director of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth department is being considered by the newly promoted club, which was coached last season by Elad Hassin.
Aharoni has served in recent years as Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth academy director, and before that he coached Bnei Herzliya, Hapoel Haifa and Hapoel Beersheba/Dimona. In 2022 he was named Coach of the Year and led Herzliya to the State Cup title.
Eilat finished last season first in the National League with a 29-1 record. Hassin left the club at the end of the season, and Eilat now hopes that one of Israel’s leading coaches in recent years can help push the team back toward the top of Israeli basketball.
