Oren Aharoni has reached an agreement to coach Eilat and is expected to sign with the newly promoted team in the coming days, with Maccabi Tel Aviv’s approval. Aharoni currently serves as the professional director of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth department, and the move will take him back to Israel’s Premier League.
In recent years, Aharoni worked as Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth director and also coached Bnei Herzliya, Hapoel Haifa, and Hapoel Be'er Sheva/Dimona. In 2022, he was named Coach of the Year and led Herzliya to the State Cup title.
Eilat finished last season in first place in the National League with a 29-1 record. After head coach Haim Hason departed at the end of the season, the club now turns to one of Israel’s leading coaches in recent years to guide it and try to restore the team to the top tier of Israeli basketball.
