Jerusalem District police have opened an investigation into a 49-year-old caregiver from the Har Homa neighborhood of Jerusalem, after complaints that she mistreated two young children under her supervision. She was arrested on Wednesday and questioned on suspicion of abusing helpless toddlers.
According to the police investigation, the caregiver allegedly shouted at the toddlers and cursed them while caring for them. In some cases, investigators say, she ignored the children’s crying and their basic needs even though they were fully in her care.
Officers from the Oz Station collected evidence and findings, and after reviewing the material they decided to place her under arrest for further questioning. She was brought today to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, where a judge extended her detention until June 29, 2026.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and that Jerusalem District officers are working to fully determine the circumstances. They also said they treat any suspected abuse of minors with utmost severity, adding, “We are acting with full determination to protect the children and bring anyone who harms them to justice.” The case comes amid a series of similar investigations in recent months involving caregivers in daycare centers and nursery settings, including the arrest of an assistant in Kiryat Gat a few months ago on suspicion of violence toward toddlers under age three after security camera footage exposed her conduct.
