Recordings aired Monday on Kan News in the program "Binyamini and Guetta" on Reshet Bet reveal a private caregiver cursing at infants about one year old. A complaint was filed with the Jerusalem Police. The caregiver had been looking after her granddaughter and two other babies.
In the recordings, the woman is heard shouting at crying infants, "Be quiet, you daughter of a whore. Sleep. Want a smack? ... Here, you daughter of a whore. Your mother is a thousand-times a whore." In another clip, she tells a different baby, "What are you doing? Idiot, you don’t know how to eat anything. What did you do? Stay like that, filthy."
Knesset member Kati Shitrit of Likud, chair of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, said the recordings show "the pathological behavior of caregivers" and should alarm the public. She said she had followed the Jerusalem case closely and remained in contact with the family.
Shitrit added that Israeli society must send a clear message that there will be no tolerance for harm to children and helpless people. The report was presented alongside other items about suspected abuse and daycare failures.
