A suspected murder took place early Thursday in Ramla, where 19-year-old Asma Abu Ghannam was shot dead in the city’s Jawarish neighborhood. Police said officers from the Shfela District and the Ramla station, together with National Guard fighters from the Border Police, reached the scene and began collecting evidence and searching for the suspect.
The killing comes against the backdrop of a continued rise in deadly crime and violence in Arab society. According to Abraham Initiatives, 136 Arabs have been killed since the start of 2026 in circumstances linked to crime and violence, including 12 women and girls.
The group said that the total is 8% higher than the same period last year, when 126 people were killed. The investigation into the Ramla shooting is ongoing, and police are still hunting for the suspect.
