A 19-year-old woman was shot and killed overnight between Wednesday and Thursday in the Jawarish neighborhood of Ramla, police said. The Israel Police opened an investigation and said officers began collecting evidence, sealing off the scene, and searching for the suspect.
The investigation is being handled by officers from the Shephelah district and the Ramla station, together with fighters from the National Guard Central unit of the Border Police. Police said the shooting site in Jawarish has been secured while the manhunt continues.
Police also said this was the 134th murder in Arab society since the start of 2026. The killing came two days after a 67-year-old resident of Tamra was shot dead near Kaabiyye-Tabbash-Hajajreh in the Western Galilee, on Route 70, in full view of drivers.
Magen David Adom teams pronounced that man dead at the scene. According to the suspicion, he was killed because a relative of his is a state witness against a crime organization in one of the most serious and major cases of recent times. Security had been placed around the victim's home about six months ago, and another man, Ziad Abu Naji, was previously murdered in the same case, also after a relative of his became a state witness.
