Captain Eliab Chaim Tzfalamus, 21, from Haifa, was killed Thursday when a military Humvee overturned in the Litani River area of southern Lebanon. Tzfalamus was a combat officer in the 603rd Combat Engineering Battalion of the 7th Brigade. Three other soldiers were lightly injured in the incident.

The military stated it is investigating the circumstances of the rollover. This incident follows another operational accident in southern Lebanon earlier in the week, which resulted in one soldier being seriously injured and another moderately injured.

The IDF continues its operations in its area of control in southern Lebanon, periodically striking Hezbollah targets. Last week, the IDF reported that Hezbollah launched an explosive drone towards forces in southern Lebanon, with no casualties reported.

In August, reserve Major Harel Birnstock and reserve Sergeant Major Tamir Waknin were killed by an explosive device detonated in the village of Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon. Four other reservists were seriously injured in that attack. Birnstock commanded a company in the 2855th Battalion of the 55th Brigade, and Waknin was a soldier in the same battalion.
