Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported that negotiations between Israel and Lebanon will resume today, for a third straight day. The main dispute is over setting a mechanism and timetable for the Israeli withdrawal from occupied areas, as well as deciding which areas Israel will leave.
According to the report, yesterday's session was better than Tuesday's, but it still produced no significant progress. The article said the talks remain focused on the terms of the withdrawal rather than on a final breakthrough.
A U.S. State Department official was quoted describing the current round of talks as difficult, while stressing that it will continue. No agreement was reported, and the next session is expected to keep dealing with the same unresolved issues.
