A Bedouin contractor working for Israel’s Defense Ministry was killed earlier Wednesday when a structure collapsed in the Gaza Strip during an Israeli operation, according to the military. The man was employed by a private company carrying out engineering work on behalf of the ministry.
The Israel Defense Forces said the incident happened while Israeli forces were active in the area. It described the dead man as a civilian employed by an outside contractor, not a soldier.
The military said the family had been notified. The IDF and the Defense Ministry both said they share in the family’s grief.
No further details about the operational accident have been released yet, and the circumstances of the collapse have not been fully disclosed.
