Contractor for Defense Ministry Killed in Building Collapse in Gaza
The IDF said a contractor working on engineering projects for Israel’s Defense Ministry was killed earlier on Wednesday in an operational accident in the Gaza Strip during activity by the military and security forces. The family was informed, and the army and Defense Ministry expressed condolences.
The dead man was identified as Raed Abu Alqian, a resident of Hura in the Negev and a civilian employee of a Defense Ministry contractor. According to the report, he died when a building collapsed on him in Gaza. The IDF described the incident as an operational accident.
The accident happened at about 1:00 p.m. in the Jabalia area, where an engineering force was operating as part of efforts to demolish structures. Abu Alqian was on site and working with an excavator when the building gave way.
The article noted that this was not the first such death in recent months. In Lebanon, another contractor employee, Aamer Hug’irat of Shfaram, was killed earlier by a Hezbollah explosive drone while working on engineering tasks for the Defense Ministry.
