A severe and fatal car accident occurred on Wednesday evening on Route 60, near the southern community of Omer, involving a collision between two private vehicles. A man in his 30s, driving one of the cars, was killed in the crash. The impact was so intense that both vehicles sustained massive structural damage, with their exteriors and interiors completely destroyed.

Large rescue forces, including intensive care units, United Hatzalah and MDA volunteers, and firefighting units, were dispatched to the scene. They worked to extricate individuals trapped in the mangled vehicles. Upon arrival, responders encountered a complex and grim scene with the two crushed cars on the roadside, surrounded by shattered glass and debris.

One of the drivers, a man in his 30s, was found unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, suffering from severe, life-threatening multi-system injuries. Fire and rescue teams worked against time to free him from the wreckage. Despite immediate medical efforts, his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Simultaneously, rescue teams provided initial medical treatment to a second man, also in his 30s, who was involved in the accident. This individual suffered multi-system injuries across his body and was listed in moderate condition. After stabilization, he was transported by ambulance to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva for further advanced medical care.

MDA paramedic Aya Gazal and volunteer Oz Cohen described the scene as "shocking," noting the significant damage to both vehicles and the fatality of one driver. They confirmed that another patient was evacuated to the hospital in moderate condition. United Hatzalah paramedics Yair and Anat Abelson and Shalom Ostinsky also reported on the difficult scene, confirming the death of one driver and the moderate condition of the other.

The fatal accident caused traffic disruptions on Route 60 near Omer. Police and traffic investigators have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the collision. The graphic images from the scene, showing completely destroyed vehicles and rescue personnel working under floodlights, highlight the heavy toll of road accidents.
