Israeli motorcycle racer Ido Chen achieved a second-place finish in the Aprilia Racing RS 457 Cup race held last weekend at the Misano circuit in Italy. The race was part of the final round of the Coppa Italia Velocità.

Chen, a 22-year-old from Hod HaSharon, started the 10-lap race from sixth position among 24 competitors. He engaged in a close battle for the lead throughout the event, even heading the pack at certain points. Ultimately, he crossed the finish line just 0.301 seconds behind the winner.

During the race, Chen recorded a fast lap time of 1:53.297 minutes and reached speeds of approximately 200 km/h on the straightaways, riding a 2026 Aprilia RS 457. This model is used by all participants in Aprilia's dedicated cup.

Chen recently completed his service in the IDF as an outstanding athlete. In Israel, he is the reigning champion and competes on an Aprilia RS 660. His training primarily takes place at the Fatzal track, supplemented by strength and endurance workouts.

In Italy, Chen was supported by the Italian team Team MMR and his father, Eli Chen, a veteran racer and driving instructor who assisted with the motorcycle's preparation and setup. Chen expressed his belief that he could have contended for the win, noting a small miscalculation on the final lap but taking valuable lessons forward.

Chen's next goal is to compete in an international series next season, aiming to advance towards the World Championship in the Superbike category. His sponsors include Berik, Fatzal Track, Lert Company, and Eli Chen's Driving School.
